A Weekend in Oxford

Radcliffe camera

Oxford captured my heart the first time I visited, which was during the kinda long, hot sunny days that feel like they’re straight out of a Polaroid photo. So I was keen to see what the city was like during winter.

This is what I got up to in my whirlwind weekend.

It starts with breakfast

We popped in Paul on the High Street for their gorgeous Parisien breakfast deal. The coffee is spot on and the pastry was so good I could’ve eaten two. Definitely what I needed to fuel myself for a little bit of wintery exploring. 😈

Beautiful Botanical Gardens

This is the oldest botanical garden in the UK, and strolling round the walled courtyard garden it very much felt like you could simply step back in time.

I even found a Cheshire Cat in one of the trees! Before walking back along pretty Oxford High Street.

So Many Books

Blackwells

We popped into Blackwells, the booskshop my friend works at, where they werr giving away cheeky nips of port, perfect to warm us up. On the way there we stopped at the Bridge of Sighs.

Then a cheeky spritz

Because what is better than an ice-filled drink on a cold winters day! 😉

We found this gorgeous little bar, George Street Social, where I had one of the best Aperol spritzes I’ve ever had. And trust me, that is being measured against a lot of competition!

The decor is spot on too, with lots of cute little touches like this old school scale.

Dinner at Byron

Dinner at Byron Oxford

I’d wanted to try Byron for a while and wasn’t disappointed. My burger was super juicy and flavourful, clearly made from good quality beef.

Add some generous sides of sweet potato and Mac n cheese, a glass of crisp Sauvignon blanc and some great service and I was in my element!

Art at the Ashmolean

Sunday morning started with a leisurely cup of coffee at the Ashmolean, before checking out their amazing collection of Turners and Impressionist paintings. 👌
